SOULS in RHYTHM
NEW MUSIC ALERT!! Bury My Body - just released (May 24/24! SiR’s newest single Bury My Body is a mighty soul anthem for all heart-broken souls! It’s an instant classic. Written on a beautiful Kawai grand piano in a cabin at the prestigious Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity, SiR knew they had some special with this one. It seemed to invoke Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield vibes. Lyrically it really wrote itself once the groove and the instrumental hooks were quickly in place. It immediately felt haunting, heavy, mournful, but confident.
Souls in Rhythm has been releasing a series of new singles that will continue through 2024 - leading to their next full-length album - fall 2024!
From Calgary, Alberta, Canada - funk/soul group SiR has toured much of the nation, and opened for prominent artists such as American hip-hop icon Common, and R&B super-group Boyz II Men. Exiling themselves to a two-year hiatus from performing, Souls in Rhythm has remained dedicated to creating together. They were honoured to accept a songwriting residency at the Banff Centre, where (over the course of three weeks) they came up with another mountain of new finished songs. Armed with a new wealth of material, they are extremely excited about their next chapter!
Rather than being impressionists of master/classic artists of the genre, SiR has a modern sound and seeks to innovate and contemporize a musical form they love. Canadian Musician Magazine elaborates; “smooth, soulful grooves, melody lines that stay in your head and polished vocals”, SiR’s music proudly pays homage to tradition, while at the same time expanding boundaries.
"Souls in Rhythm has found a unique niche somewhere between the pop radio crowd and the folk and roots scene, with songs as influenced as prominently by Prince and Michael Jackson as Al Green and Jerry Lee Lewis." - The Edmonton Sun
Souls in Rhythm is: Scott Henderson (keys/vocals)Caleb Roddick (bass), Spencer Cheyne (drums) and Vincent Bundick (guitar).
"SiR is a funk to get in to...R&B act is the real deal" - Calgary Sun
With a live show that delivers “hard-hitting bass, rhythmic guitar, rock-solid drums and dancing keys, all welded together with Henderson’s polished vocals” (Kamloops This Week), SiR will make you feel its music, inevitably ending with asses shaking on the dance floor!
